A week after a pipeline was buried beneath the surface of Arizona, a team of divers has swam down the pipeline and is now investigating what happened.
A video posted to YouTube by the company that owns the pipeline shows the divers taking measurements of the surface and surface sediment.
The divers also measured the water level in the pipe and found it to be around 5 feet below the surface.
The project is being run by Mesa-based company Pipeline Technologies, which said in a statement that it is working with a contractor to remove the pipe from the bottom.
The company has been inundated with questions about the cause of the pipeline’s sinkhole and is working to resolve them.
A spokesman for Mesa-area utilities said they are not involved in the pipeline project, but they are taking steps to address any water issues.
